The war is worth it..... but the fight is hard

Anytime we face big changes in our lives, things can seem to be rather difficult.  Walking through the process of seasons of change is often times an uncomfortable and uneasy thing.  However change is inevitable and walking through the process can either make or break us.

Over the last two months I have been walking through the process of transitioning from campus ministry in Lafayette to campus ministry in South Africa.  Through this process I have learned more than either of us have time for me to type here.

One big thing that the Lord has taught me though is that the war is worth it but the fight is hard.  When we are faced with new things and big obstacles and changes and what not in life, it can seem like we are in a war to get to where we are going and find normalcy again.  It can feel as if we are in an all out war with an enemy that will try anything and everything to stop us from doing what the Lord has asked us to do.  And with any war, the fight within that war is without a doubt hard.  The fight can take everything within us and still leave us contemplating giving up.  The fight can even sometimes convince us that it isn't even worth it anymore.

Here's the deal though, when going to war for God, the war is always worth it.  If the Lord has asked something of us, then the war to accomplish whatever it is is absolutely worth it.  That however does not mean that the fight is going to be easy.  As a matter of fact it almost always means that the fight is going to be hard.  An all out battle in fact.  But that never changes the fact that the war is worth it.  The level of harshness of the fight is actually in proportion to how valuable to war is.  The harder the fight the more valuable the victory of the war.

As it pertains to my life and this transition and campus ministry, the war is worth it.  The battle for university students around the world to know Christ is absolutely worth it.  And the victory is more valuable than I can articulate.  And all of this means that the fight is hard!  One of the hardest that I've ever been in.  But when we see the value and worthiness of the war, we will find the courage to fight no matter how hard it may be.  Even if it takes every ounce of strength and fight we have.
