We kicked off Friday night with a massive pot of gumbo and some fun get to know you games. Saturday we got to explain Easter, some internationals got to share their testimonies with others, there was a tour of the swamp on campus, and an Easter egg hunt in the quad. Talk about entertaining.... international college students learning about hunting Easter eggs for the first time!
For the afternoon everyone left and went to Eunice to the cultural center for some history and dancing. While they were away we bought 400 pounds of crawfish and set the grounds for a good ol south Louisiana crawfish boil!! We boiled crawfish, played volleyball, taught international students how to peel and eat crawfish, and had a zydeco band so students could dance the night away. It was a perfect Saturday evening in south Louisiana as the sunset on our fete!
Sunday morning we took all 140 international students to church with us. The thing about this weekend is that most of these students have never met Jesus. They came to hang out and learn about our culture and Easter. Since they came with an open mind to learn about these things, it was a perfect opportunity to introduce them to Jesus.
The program at church Sunday morning was phenomenal! It was a production put on for Easter and was absolutely great! At the salvation call at the end, there were quite a few students who stood to receive Christ!!!! I was trying to see without really looking all around, but close by I could see at least 3 students who stood. I know there were more as I've heard from different people. Amazing!! That definitely made all our work this weekend more than worth it! I'd do it again any day!! (I mean 400 pounds of crawfish and students got saved.... best weekend ever!!)
Here's a few pics from the weekend:

Until then......
