"You Make Beautiful Things"

After Christmas I ventured out to Dallas for our annual regional Chi Alpha conference known as Salt. This year we set yet another record for Salt attendance with the largest Salt in the history of Chi Alpha. There were 1,200 college students gathered to worship and draw closer to the Lord.

One night I was sitting with a group our students for the evening session. During worship the band played an old school song "I need you more" in which the chorus says "And Lord as time goes by, I'll be by Your side, Cause I never want to go back, To my old life." I happened to be behind one of our student leaders who got saved his freshman year here. You can tell his life has been radically changed as he has come to know the Lord and walk with Him. As this song was going, I watched as this young man thrust his arms in the air in declaration that he never wants to go back to his old life. It truly brought tears to my eyes.

Another song that they sand a lot that weekend was "Beautiful Things" bu Gungor. The bridge says "you make me new, you are making me new." As I stood and sand this song surrounded by so many young hearts on fire for God, it moved me to tears. God was reminding me that no matter who were are or what we come from, He is able to take us out of the mess and make something beautiful out of us. It was so incredible to spend a few days with students who were surrendering their lives to God to be made new by Him. I never cease to be amazed by the way the Lord works in us.

Until then......
