Can I make an actual appointment??

Part of my job at Chi Alpha is to be the director of the Chi Alpha house. I reside in the house with seventeen other people. There are five interns and twelve students that live with me.

Part of my job as house director (or governor as I like to say) is to take care of all the maintenance and house issues. It seems like this semester has been plagued with issues in the house. Not issues with people, but with the physical house. I think something breaks at least once a week.

Over the course of this semester I've had to call exterminators and repair men. Now don't get me wrong, I am thankful for people who are professionals and will come to your home and take care of problems. However I would be more thankful if they would actually give me a time that they are going to show up, versus a two hour time slot that they will arrive during.

If you know me at all you know that I am a person who likes to sleep. Therefore when I am told that someone will show up between 7:00am & 9:00am, I don't jump for joy. The first time I was told this, they showed up at 6:15am. Talk about mad??? The next time they told me between 2:00pm & 4:00pm and showed up at 1:30pm. Another repair man told me between 7:00am & 9:00am and came at 8:00am (at least he was in the time frame, but still that's an hour that I still could have been asleep!). And now here I sit between 7:00am & 9:00am again this morning, just waiting. So far it's 7:30am and I haven't seen anyone. I really want to see my bed again, but I can't because they will be here between 7:00am & 9:00am!!! Can't we just schedule an actual time????? Seriously???

What if life revolved around two hour gaps. "The store will close between 8:00pm & 10:00pm." Or "the movie will start between 6:00pm & 8:00pm." Or sure you can make a doctors appointment, "we've got you scheduled between 10:00am & 12:00pm."

Do you see how ridiculous this is??? How can life really operate when people just schedule something between two hour blocks of time?? Can you also tell that I'm a little grouchy about being up this early and just sitting and waiting for someone that will show up "sometime" in the next hour and a half??

Until then......
