Good morning (well afternoon here) from a chilly 12 degree Virginia!!!! Sunday morning around 3:30am, four friends and I loaded into the car and headed north. Our destination: Newport, VA. Our plan was to spend the night with my friends in Newport and then the four girls I was traveling with would leave Monday morning heading to D.C. and I would stay in Newport for the week.
Everything was on target and going well until northern Tennessee when we started hitting heavy snow. We pushed on for another couple of hours until the car voted we get a hotel room for the night. We were about 85 miles from Newport but the snow was coming down and visibility was getting less and less. And don't forget we are all native to Louisiana and thus took us a few moments to figure out what white stuff was falling from the sky when we first saw it.
When we went to get in our car on Monday morning and head further north, the temperature gauge in the car read 14 degrees. We're pretty sure that may be the coldest temp any of us had ever seen! The roads were pretty clear for the rest of our drive and I was safely to my destination by 10:00am. The girls dropped me off and headed to D.C. When I talked to them last night they were loving their destination and headed to see the White House!
After arrival I hoped in the truck with one of my friends I came to see and we ventured to the district AG office in West Virginia. When I stepped out of the truck I found myself in 6 inches of snow and face to face with three foot long icicles hanging off the building! That's legit!!!!
For the remainder of the week you will find me drinking coffee and reading on the big green comfy couch in front of the fire in my friends' house on the Christmas tree farm that is currently covered in snow. Yes, I am living in a postcard this week and loving it!!! "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful!!!"
Until then......
.... and pictures will come soon!!!
