After move in on Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday morning is the lifegroup expo at one of our local churches. We'll be at all four services over the weekend and let people know about all of the different lifegroup opportunities we have on campus.
Monday we are feeding the housing staff from UL and hosting a welcome reception for International students. Tuesday I am headed to SLCC (our local community college) to further the process of starting a Chi Alpha there and to meet the Dean. Wednesday we breath and regroup for just a moment. Then Thursday and Friday we move students into the dorms. Saturday we feed the football team lunch and have a karaoke. Saturday evening is a campus wide United Campus Ministires BBQ. Sunday is UL Fan Day where we kick off the season and unfurl the world's largest Louisiana State Flag, followed by game night at Chi Alpha. Monday is Karaoke Night at the Cafe. Tuesday and Wednesday are dorm lifegroup parties all over campus. Thursday is our biggest event of the year called Burger Bash! Last year we counted nearly 600 students at burger bash. Our biggest ever and this year we plan to break that record too!!! Then Friday is the Block Party on campus followed by Chi Alpha International kicking off that night. Saturday there's a concert at the Cafe. Sunday I have my first resource meeting with the 18 iTeam leaders that I am overseeing this year. And so on and so on.
I am tired now just thinking about it and looking at the schedule! It is indeed chaos and craziness, but it is phenomenal!!!! We throw out nets all over the place these next few weeks and then we get to see the fruits of it over the next few months. It is the most critical time of the year for campus ministry. Students are coming in and will settle very soon into their lives and routines. This is the most fertile and fruitful time to reach students. It's organized chaos, but it's exciting!!!!
In quick other news, I headed over to Chik-Fil-A for lunch today. When I got there the line was wrapped around the building for the drive thru. But they had someone out walking up and down the line taking orders which made the process go so much quicker. I'm always impressed by their efficiency, smiles, and fabulous attitudes. Kudos to Chick-Fil-A and the amazing customer service they have!!!

Until then......
