Active Lifestyle

Lately I am on a kick of wanting to fill my time with an active lifestyle. Yesterday I spent the better part of the afternoon/evening at a friend's pool with other friends. Even after wearing myself out from re-learning to dive (I dove a lot as a kid, but somewhere along the way I stopped swimming in pools and started just hanging out.... I now realize I'm no longer a good "swimmer" and had forgotten how to dive), swimming laps, and just goofing off, I came home and still ran.

Today when I finished work at four, I ran to the store to buy some goggles and then headed to our campus lap pool to swim some laps. Again I have learned I am no longer a great swimmer. As I kid I was on a swim team and we always had a pool. But after years of just goofing off in the water, I no longer excel in this area. I'm sure the lifeguards got a kick out of watching me swim laps and struggle to find the rhythm of breathing properly. It was rough.

I then came home and looked up the rock climbing place here in Lafayette and some dance studios. (I'm waiting for the sun to go down so I can hit the road for my nightly run) I want to be active. I crave an active lifestyle. For now I think I'll just do a day pass here and there to the rock climbing place and catch a random session or two at the dance studio. I also need to take advantage of the classes at the campus gym once they kick back up in a few weeks. I'm really looking forward to water aerobics!! I loved it the few times I got to go last year. This year I think I'm going to work it in to my weekly schedule and try to go at least twice a week.

I've always loved being active. It's just a matter of finding somewhere to be active and then sticking it out. It comes in spurts for me a lot of the time. It also depends on the crowd I'm around. In high school I played sports and had friends who played, so it was easy. In college I played intramurals and hung out with a pretty active crowd that liked to play tennis, softball, run, or even just go on adventures through the woods and mud. But we were generally doing something.

So here's to an active lifestyle!!!!!
Until then......

GOOD FOR YOU!!!BUT don't go overboard too fast---you'll end up a virtual cripple for a while if you over-do. Take it steady and consistent and build up slowly!
