Really?

It's amazing to me how anytime a guy and a girl have a decent conversation for more than ten minutes, someone automatically begins to think something is going on. It could be one of the two having the conversation or it could be an observer just assuming there is something more.

While I was recently at a conference a fellow intern (a male intern from another campus) and myself sat by each other and talked about Chi Alpha stuff during one of the evening activities. When the activities were over we walked across the campgrounds together due to the fact that our lodges were next to each other.

The next day someone asked me what was going on with me and this other intern. Really? We happen to be two adults who work for the same ministry and therefore have a lot that we can talk about and swap ideas and such. It amazes me that this automatically means we are involved in more than a professional way.

The day we got back from the conference I was in my hometown one last night and so I had coffee with an old friend, who happened to be a guy. We sat and chatted over a cup of coffee for about an hour and then he left and I sat to study for my credentialing test. Another friend, who happened to be in the coffee shop, then asked me if my date was over. Again, Really? Can a guy and a girl not have a platonic cup of coffee?

I'm beginning to think I should never speak to a guy again in public whether we are in a group or not. Apparently if you say anything to a guy, someone is going to think something is going on.

Really!
Until then......
