Beautiful Day

Today was a beautiful day. We started by having breakfast with the bride (my friend Katie), bride's mom, and bride's maids. We had breakfast and tea at Tea Cozy in downtown Indianapolis. It was this fabulous little cafe that specializes in tea. I must say it reminded me so much of South Africa and it just made the day even better for me. I even had a cup of Roobois tea which is a South African tea. The food was fabulous, the conversation was great, and it kicked off a day of food. A fabulous beginning.

Next stop was the Oliver Winery where Katie's bridal shower was held. This place was absolutely gorgeous. It's a winery and vineyard near Bloomington, IN. The shower was out on their deck and the high for today was a whopping 70 degrees. Can we say never coming back to the Louisiana heat??? But seriously the place was beautiful!

The shower was amazing as well. Katie's Maid of Honor, Beth, did an awesome job. It was chic, cute, lots of food, and Katie got a ton of awesome stuff! We had a tour of the winery, ate lunch, relaxed, and had a great time. I think the whole shower lasted about three or four hours. But it was so laid back it was great!

After the shower we toured Indiana University, which is where the wedding will take place. I've been on a ton of campuses around the world, and thus far IU may be the most beautiful I've seen. It has the awesome old stone architecture and had awesome landscaping as well. The combo makes it simply breath taking. It was well worth the tour.

From the campus we headed back to Katie's and she gave all the bride's maids their shoes and jewelry for the wedding. Then she tried on her dress and modeled it for us. Amazing!!!! She's going to be a stunning bride.

Of course a group of girls together means lots of talking and laughing and even some happy tears! And then what great day would be complete without the bachlorette dinner and games at Dave and Busters. How much fun!!! We seriously had a great time.

It's now nearly two in the morning and we are back at Katie's and watching "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." It's such a funny wedding movie. It's great! I don't know however if I will make it to the end of it. I need to get up and hit the road around 8:00 in the morning and make tracks to Virginia, thus sleep must happen soon.

Altogether this trip to Indiana has been absolutely beautiful. It's been beautiful weather, phenomenal people, awesome conversations, and loads of fun! It's sad to leave cause my time here was so short, but I'm excited to spend some time with the Barnard family in Virginia too! Hopefully I'll keep up with my posting while I'm there too! Until then ......
