While working at Bath & Body works today, I was challenged by a customer. I don't mean physically or retail wise. I was challenged spiritually. Yes in Bath & Body Works around 9:45 this morning, I was spiritually challenged by a random customer.
This lady was one of our weekly regulars and a sweet lady. As she shopped she made sure she fixed the holes from where she picked up products and was just all around nice. But as she was walking off from the cash register after her purchase, I told her to have a good day. She turned back around and said to me "I will have a good day because God has never made a bad one." She took a simple occasion and chance meeting with a random cashier and made sure she worked God into our encounter. This caught me off guard and then floored me. This lady made sure that she was intentional and in someway was determined to mention and introduce God to me.
I don't remember how but we then began to talk about walking with God and sharing our faith with others. She said that she always tries to share God with those she meets because she has realized that not everyone she meets knows the Lord. Wow. It floored me. I was reminded of the opportunities that I have all the time and just let pass me by. I get so caught up in 'life' and just let 'my purpose' pass me by. I'm not really living this life for Bath & Body Works or to make myself happy. I'm here for the purpose of serving God and making Him known. Oh how easily we forget our purpose.
For a while this morning after this lady left, I was so challenged by her simple statement and her intention to make sure I had heard of God. If only we all lived realizing that not everyone we encounter knows God. If only we lived knowing that our purpose was to find those around us who don't know God and introduce them to Him. Wow. Wow!!
Until then......
