So I'm a week out from turning the big 2 - 5 and don't know what I want to do for the big day. Hmmmmmm...............
Of course in high school it was all about the friends and parties (in the sense of cake and balloons and presents and friends). In college I spent my birthdays in various ways. Some were with just friends and families. My 21 was spent on the beach with friends. I honestly can't recall how I celebrated 22.
23 was my first birthday in Africa. There were a couple of Americans in and we started the day with breakfast at my favorite cafe/bakery. Then there was lunch and the evening was leadership class and they threw me a party.
24 was my second African birthday. It may be one of my favorite birthdays ever. All together I got three cakes, flowers, coffee with friends, lunch with other friends, sang happy birthday to by numerous people, calls from America, dinner with friends, it kicked off a week long vacation (I mean the vacation was at home, but a week of no work), and I just felt loved. It may be one of the best birthdays because my family in South Africa made me feel at home and special to them. It wasn't about the gifts or anything but just getting to hang out with people all day. It was great!!
So next Thursday will be here soon and I don't know what I'm gonna do. I have Chi Alpha service all night. And the next day I'm headed to my grandmother's in Mississippi for the weekend. So I don't know. I love birthdays. I always have. I think it's because it's your day. It's the day you burst forth to conquer the world. The day God gave you life. The day your purpose and plans with God started. I know He knew them before you were here, but they become real and start on your original birthday. It's just an awesome thought to me.
So we'll see. I wanted to do something big for 25. Yes age is just a number but it's a cool number. It means I've lived and done and seen so much. I'm stoked about 25. I've seen so much already but I'm just getting started. I'm excited about another year. I'm even excited about the gray hairs I keep finding (Proverbs says gray hair is a crown of splendor. I say that's my crown sprouting up there!!).
Anyway. All that to say 25 here I come!!!! Bring it on!!! I'm excited!!!
Until then ......

Well Mir, for my 25th birthday I went and had my first drink! A death by chocolate Martini from Bennigans. You can't get that from Bennigan's anymore being that it is closed but you can do something like it!!
