New Appreciation For Parents

Today the Turners, Chi Alpha campus pastors from McNeese University, stopped by our office at UL. This summer Sullivan Turner, a campus pastor from LSU, and I took the team to South Africa. I absolutely love the Turners and their adorable two sons. Since our trip to South Africa, I actually carry a picture of their boys in my wallet.

Malakai is the 3yr old son of the Turners. While in the building today we decided to play a friendly game of fooseball. When I accidentally scored, Kai accused me of cheating and left. One of our friends told him to come back and talk to me because he hurt my feelings when he accused me of cheating. He then marched up to me and said "but you hurt my feelings when you didn't let me hit the ball first." This is where I gained the new appreciation for parents. I know I should have held my composure and talked to him, but instead I just laughed. He's just too cute and I couldn't help it.

Later we were eating lunch and I asked if he was still mad at me. He pointed to his eyes and said "yes... can't you see I'm rolling my eyes!" Again I just laughed. He then looked at me and said "why are you laughing??? I'm not funny!"

Major props to parents who have to deal with these types of things all the time and are able to hold their composure and have conversations with their kids. I have a whole new appreciation for your immunity to big brown eyes, adorable cheeks, and hilarious remarks!

I mean, look at all that cuteness!!!!!!

Until then......
