God is like a GPS

The other day I was headed to Alexandria to our District AG office to take my credentialing test. I know how to get to and from Alexandria via Ruston or Lafayette or Shreveport. And I know where our District office is. However I didn't know how to get to the District office from 167. So of course, I use my GPS.

In following my GPS I wound up on a road that I was not familiar with and for a few moments I thought my GPS was wrong. The way did not seem familiar and it didn't actually seem like it would take me to where I needed to be. And not to mention the fact that I was in a bit of a time crunch.

So I'm headed down this random road, sure that I am not going to make it to the office in time to take my test. And definitely sure that this so called smart GPS has taken me the completely wrong way. Then all of a sudden this road takes a turn and I am right in front of the District office, right on time, and perfectly safe. The GPS actually did know better than I did. It knew all along even though things seemed out of my control and didn't look the way that I wanted it to.

I realized this was like life with God. Often we see where we are and we even see where we think we are headed and we question God. We ask why He is taking us this route. We question if He realizes what path He has us on. We look around and we look ahead and we think that God has gotten us off track and we're not going to make it to where we thought we were going. And even if we do make it there we're going to be too late to be of any use. Oh how we think we know better than God does. But then out of nowhere the road turns and all of a sudden everything makes sense again. And low and behold God knew exactly what was going on the entire time. Letting God be our GPS can seem scary and like nothing makes sense, but end in the end He works all things together for our good.

Until then......
