One of the girls brought dinner for everyone. So we ate red beans and rice and talked for a bit. We did the whole ask a question and everyone has to answer it while we eat. It was a good ice breaker. It then eased us into our discussion for the evening. We read the parable of the talents from Matthew. We talked about what a parable is and who the characters in this one represented. We talked about what the talents represented. Then we went around and talked about the talents God had given us and what we were doing with them. It was really good. We set out from the beginning that everyone had to talk and participate in the discussion so it went well. They all talked.
Even when we were done with the parable a few of the girls had general question. One mentioned she had a hard time wanting to go to church. She questioned if this was normal. We assured her it is normal. We're fighting against human nature in order to pursue God and sometimes it just isn't what our flesh wants to do. Another girl said she had a hard time reading her Bible and sticking with reading it. Again human nature.
It was awesome that they were open and honest and ready to ask questions. It was great! The whole evening was full of good discussion and great participation. I think it's going to be an awesome year for the lifegroup. My co-leader and I are still coming up with ways to best reach others in the apartment complex. It's hard but we're determined to make some headway this year in the complex.
I was excited before but even more now, I'm excited about this lifegroup and this year! I pray that the girls are challenged and grow and I pray that I too am challenged and grow through lifegroup this year. It's happening already!
Here's a pic of one of the buildings from Legacy Park. And the other pic is of Macie (my co-leader) and I.

Until then ......
