Give Me Your Eyes

So it's Thursday and I have no idea how that happened. It's been a heck of a week already. We had learning party Monday and International Student Friendship Ministry Monday night. Tuesday all day was spent working on the mail out for the freshmen. Wednesday I spent 13 hours in the office working on the mail out. And today we had Operation Move It. We spent seven hours today moving students into all the dorms on campus. Luckily it wasn't too hot, even though humidity was at 150%. I'm worn out already, but it's been a great week. Tomorrow is Operation Move It day 2 and ISFM (International Student Friendship Ministry). Saturday we are feeding the football team and having a campus wide BBQ with all the other campus ministries. Sunday is church, Fan Day at UL (where we get to unfurl the world's largest Louisiana State Flag), and karaoke that night. Busy, busy, busy insanity is the first few weeks of the school year for every campus ministry. And as an intern I still have all my studies to stay on top of. But I'm loving it!!!

Since there is so much and it's 7:00pm and all I really want is to go to bed, but I must do homework instead, I'm gonna keep this post short. But I will leave you with the lyrics to the song that has been stuck in my head the past few days. Read the words, it's really awesome.

Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath

Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere,
Why have I never cared?

Chorus:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work
He's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

I've Been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all along

Until then ......
