Last week or so I did a post titled "Remember that time". It was about how much I love and appreciate the friends that I have that I can sit around and reminisce about life with because our lives have so intrinsically been intertwined.
The other night I was out to dinner with a group of friends for another friends birthday. Now most of these friends are actually students of the ministry that I work with. And many of them are students/interns who live in the ministry house with me. Sometimes the lines get blurry (as they do in ministry) of where is the line between friend and person I'm ministering to.
As I was sitting at dinner we began to tell stories. And I realized that in the three years that I have been here, I've gained so many more people to sit and reminisce with. We laughed and laughed as we took turns telling stories that began with "remember that time..."
It was such a wonderful birthday dinner and such a wonderful celebration of friends and life together. I was reminded to not be sad because my old "remember that time" friends aren't around, but rather to embrace all the new ones that I have shared life with since moving to Lafayette.
Until then
