Promises

I love how the Bible is full of the Promises of God. And not just the promise of eternal life and salvation. And not just the promise of all the wonderful things in Proverbs and such. But I love how the Bible is full of specific promises that God gives His people and then later fulfills.

The Old Testament is full of God telling His people to do something and then they will see a promise fulfilled. God told Hagar to return to Sarai and He would make her son Ishmael a great nation. The Lord wrestled with Jacob(Israel) and promised he too would father a nation. During many wars in Old Testament, God tells His people to attack and promises that if they follow His decrees that they will win. I want the promises of God fulfilled in my life. Not just health, wealth, and prosperity... those I don't even care about. But I want the relationship with God to where He speaks on a daily basis and promises to show up and do things. It's the promise of really seeing the Hand of God move on a regular basis.

Joshua 3:5 says "Joshua told the people, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."

Why have we lost that expectation? Why aren't we communing with God to find out the promises that He has for us tomorrow or this week or this year? I want the promises of God to be evident in my life.

Until then......

Because we don't like to wait-so we put ourselves on the throne & try to direct our own lives---and THAT is a dismal failure!
