Homecoming!

Last week was Homecoming here at UL. I had promised to try and post during the week, but alas that did not really happen. Sorry! With all the festivities and I got sick, posting took a back seat. I am happy to report though that Chi Alpha got first in Homecoming Sweepstakes in our division. We got first at Cajun Idol, second in skit, tied for the float, and got first for the kick off party. This means overall we took home first!! Yay Chi Alpha and Homecoming!! (now if only the Cajuns had done so well int he game....)

We also had an awesome Homecoming TNL (Thursday Night Live - weekly Chi Alpha service). We had many alumni who came and spoke, prayed for students, and gave bits of wisdom. We also skyped in a few alumni from across the country. They all talked of their time in Chi Alpha, how it shaped their lives, and how they transitioned to making a difference in the marketplace. As someone who works for Chi Alpha it was so cool to sit back and watch what essentially is the fulfillment of what we do on campus. Yes we are whole heartedly here to reach this campus. But once we reach students we want their lives to be transformed so that they go out and transform the marketplace and the world. So to see students changing the marketplace means we have at least fulfilled part of our jobs. So awesome to actually see it happening!

For now here are some glimpses of Homecoming week:
Our Spirit Board we made to place on campus:

Our float:

We were the only float to have a live band on board (complete with Michael Jackson):

Our opponents were the owls. Our float was which spice is right for smoked owl? So at the back of the float we had this owl with a smoke machine behind it for effects. It was awesome!!

These were some friendly decked out Cajun supporters tailgating near our tent:

Homecoming was an absolute blast!!! Until then......
