Procrastination

Procrastination is probably the reason that you guys have not heard from me in quite a while. I would love to say that life has just been busy, and indeed it has, but I've come to realize that life is always busy for everyone. I generaly think of myself as busier than most and feel justified when I get a small break or forget to do somethings. The truth is though everyone is busy. Life is busy. And so really my pride in being busy is just a cover up for procrastination.

I think my procrastination catches up with me most when I am about to leave town. There is something about leaving town that makes you feel you have to finish everything on your to do list befor you hit the road. And if you have been pushing your to do list off on tomorrow for sometime, then the list is quite long.

I'm leaving town tonight and so this week has felt chaotic as I have tried to conquer my to do list. Even this morning I am up earlier than I would need to be because I need to finish laundry, make some phone calls, pack, and read a book (I have a book to finish reading for a conference I'm going to next week). And I needed to mow the grass, but I let that one slide. I also need to go get gas, mail something to Africa, and do some banking before I go to work. Most of these things could have and should have been done long ago. Oh the joy of procrastination.

Well tonight I'm headed to my grandmother's in Mississippi with my family. Tomorrow dad and I are going canoeing on the river near my grandmother's. And then Saturday is her big party for her 90th birthday! Saturday night I'll make the drive back with my brother because I have to leave at 8:00 on Sunday morning to go to Missouri for the rest of the week for a Chi Alpha conference. I'm excited about both. It will be the first bit of extended time I've had off from Bath and Body Works in months and I'm excited about that! No sales or crazy customers for a week..... wahoo!!!!
